How to put a Cope folder together for year 12

THE COPE COURSE IS WORTH 70 UCAS POINTS.

You should visit the psheok.co.uk website to find out about the modules. YOU ARE REQUIRED TO DO A LOT OF WORK OUTSIDE OF THE OFFICIAL LESSON TIME. FOLDERS MUST BE BROUGHT TO ALL LESSONS

STUDENTS WHO DO NOT COMPLETE A MODULE TO THE DEADLINE ARE IN DANGER OF  BEING ASKED TO LEAVE THE COURSE

This should log how you used the hours allocated to the unit   activity_log

This year we were very successful 16 students who submitted their folders passed.

Time is alaways the enemy in Cope. It rushes away from you. So here is the shedule for this year. You absolutely must stick to the deadlines. They are your targets.

FIRST UNIT IS RESEARCH.

YOU MUST DOWN LOAD THE PAPERWORK FROM HERE>

Week begining September 3rd 2012

You choose your research title and your overall interest area; You also choose what you are going to research. EXAMPLE  ” I am going to find out  what alcohol can do to the body and why.” YOU must get this sorted out clearly with your tutor in the first lesson.

1. Week begining September 10th 2012

You must present your chosen title and research objectives filled in on the paperwork to  Mr. Kelly personally to check. THIS IS ESSENTIAL.

2. Week beginning September 17th 2012

Submit your first draft and conclusions to Mr. Kelly for approval of what you are doing. THIS is essentail.

3. Week beginning September 24th 2012  use actitity log

Hand in your research task in your folder with attached research to Mr. Kelly

4. Week beginning OCT 1st 2012 YOUR folders handed back with your ammendments and feedback to you.

5. Week beginning  October 8th

Hand back completed research task./ get folder back for your second lesson

6. Week  October 15th RESEARCH  UNIT COMPLETED CHECKED AND APPROVED ALL paperwork completed. UNIT COMPLETED

1/6 of course completed

Second Unit is Oral Presentation

1. Week beginning October 22nd 2012

Choose your Oral Presentation Title and submit this to Mr. Kelly with your plan ob the PDF. Detailed plan required ( 2 hours)

2. Week beginning October 24-28th Oral presentation first draft submitted to Teachers ( 2 hours)

3. Week beginning  October 31st Gather your material & put together your presentation. ( 2 hours)

4. Week beginning November 1st Final draft of your oral presentation to Mr. Kelly for approval

5. Week beginning 7th November ORAL  presentations ALL WEEK

6. Week Beginning 14th November  Marked final submission of folders.

2/6ths of Course Completed

 3rd Unit is Discussion

1. Week beginning 21st November Choose your Discussion Topic Titles & plan on the PDF to Mr. Kelly for Approval. YOU MUST CHOOSE A TOTALLY DIFFERENT TOPIC FOR YOUR DISCUSSION THAN YOUR ORAL PRESENTATION

2. Week beginning 28th November Prepare your Discussion draft to teachers & Mr. Kelly for Approval

Also your PDF for PROBLEM SOLVING IS SUBMITTED TO MR KELLY./

3. Week beginning 5th December Discussions take place in class

4. Week beginning 12th December Discussions final pdf completed and handed in to teachers for the Discussion module. YOUR PDF for problem Solving is given back to you ( time for any final discussions)

3/6 ths 1/2 course completed

4th Unit is Problem Solving

5. CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY 2 weeks

YOUR PDF COMPLTED ON PROBLEM SOLVING

6. Week beginning JAN 3rd WORK ON PROBLEM SOLVING UNIT

7. Week beginning JAN 9th Work on problem Solving PDF COMPLETED AND HANDED IN Finished

Fifth unit is WORKING WITH OTHERS

1. Week beginning JAN 16th  Working with Others Unit details to be decided with groups & tutor

2. Week beginning Jan 23rd  Working with others unit PDF & Activity log

3. Week beginning Jan 30th  Working with others unit & activity log

4. Week beginning Feb 1st Working with others unit & activity log

5. Week beginning Feb 6th Working with others unit PDF & Activity log submitted

Week beginning Feb 13th Half Term

6.Week beginning Feb 2oth Working with others finished handed in to Mr. Kelly

7. Week beginning Feb 27th Working with others finished off in folders checked

6th Unit is  Improving YOUR OWN LEARNING

1. Week beginning 1st March Improving Your Own learning pdf Submitted detailed

2. Week beginning 5th March Improving your Own learning PDF submitted detailed

3. week beginning 12th March gather evidence for IMP

4. Week beginng 19th March hand in IMP to Mr. Kelly for checking

5.  Week beginning 26th March Get folders back final gathering of material

6. IMP finished in folders

Final Approval for YOUR FOLDERS by Mr. Kelly in the Easter Holidays

1.  Week beginning April 16th Any final adjustments to your folder

2. Week beginning April 23rd Folders And PDFS final review

3. Last week April 23rd for Folders submitted finished

4. Course Ends May Folders submitted Awaiting moderation
